Water baptism is a public declaration of one's decision to follow Christ. It’s both a command and an example given by Christ in Scripture. All who repent and believe in Christ as Savior and Lord are to be baptized. In doing so, believers proclaim to the world that they have died with Christ and have been raised with Him to live a new life. (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47,48; Romans 6:4).

At Journey Church we encourage the baptism of any believer who is 12 years or older, having an understanding of the decision they are making, and wishes to dedicate or re-dedicate their lives to follow Christ. All those who wish to be baptized must attend our baptism class beforehand.

If you’re interested in getting baptized or would like to learn more about what baptism means, we invite you to join our Baptism Class after our evening service at 6:00 p.m. in Room #302, on designated Sundays that will be announced.

This class is a required step before signing up for a future Baptism Sunday and is offered several weeks in advance. During the class, you’ll:

• Learn the biblical meaning and significance of baptisms
• Discover what to expect on baptism day
• Receive helpful resources
• Be encouraged to invite friends and family to celebrate with you
• Get answers to any questions before making your final decision to sign up for a future Baptism Sunday date

Baptism Sunday at Journey Church is a special Sunday where we celebrate those that will be baptized during our 4:00pm evening worship service. For those getting baptized, it's a great day to invite friends and family to witness your decision to follow Christ, to be encouraged by your testimony and to see the transformation in your life. If desired, you will have a brief opportunity to share a few words about your decision and testimony.

On the day of, we ask those getting baptized to come early to join our pre-service meeting at 3:15pm for a walk-through of the flow of service. Please come dressed in the clothes that you will be baptized in (see below for more details).

Items to bring the day of:

• Towel
• Wear dark, loose-fitted clothing and sandals
• Change of clothes for after
• Baptism Response Card
